Discover the Power of Gratitude
God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to thank the Lord for the good health, family, friends, and food ??? In this busy world, we tend to keep on running the race of life failing to look at the beautiful things around us which keep on passing away. In my case too, it was the same scenario. Every morning I wake up at 5.00 am and go jogging. My main focus was to just run for one hour. I seldom took time to thank the Lord for it is he who has added a new day in my life. This went on until I got an abscess right on the thumb of my foot. It was a very painful experience. I was able to neither run nor walk. The abscess on my thumb got worse that I had to go to the hospital. This was the first time visit to hospital throughout my four years in college. On the way to the hospital, I kept on grumbling as to why the Lord has permitted this sort of pain on my foot and that too on the final year of my college days. With all those thoughts running through my mind I told the caretaker who was accompanying me to the hospital that this was the first time to the hospital expecting that she would tell some comforting words. But what she said really changed my perspective all of a sudden. She told that I am so lucky for the Lord has protected me all these years from all diseases. That is when I realized how the Lord's protection and grace were upon me all these years. Instead of thanking him for protecting me safely for the past three years I chose to spend my time on questioning and grumbling for the one-day abscess formed on my foot in the last year of my college. I felt so regretful and started thanking the Lord for all the good things he has provided me all these years. Many times in life we tend to focus more on the one bad thing that has happened in our lives letting go of the several good things we have on a daily basis. There are always two roads in the path of life. In this case, one is the path of "GRATITUDE" and the other is "GRUMBLING". Only by thanking one can lead a happy and content life. Grumbling not only takes away our peace but leaves us hopeless. The choice solely depends on which path you wish to go through. Never let the things you WANT make you forget the things you HAVE. Choose wisely for a thankful heart is always a happy heart.
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend"
"It's not the happy people who are thankful. It is the thankful people who are happy"
